MY STORY.

I wear many hats. Always have.

In 1993, I entered a graduate training programme in advertising.  The interview process was filmed by BBC2 for a show about recruitment, ENTITLed 'Situation Vacant'.

 

Poacher turned gamekeeper, I moved into marketing at ITV Digital in 2000, then BECAME VP Marketing at MTV in 2002.  advertising and marketing awards followed, including the Cannes Lions Grand Prix and several Campaigns of the Year.  But I BECAME irritated with the sector: if you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.  SO I stepped out into spaces of entrePreneurial leadership.

I have since wrestled snakes and scaled ladders, as an executive, consultant and advisor to Corporates, SMEs and start-ups LOOKING TO SCALE. EQUALLY, I have ventured a few IDEAS of my own.

Perhaps not always obviously qualified, I have nonetheless stepped INTO many different industries - including technology, telecoms, TV, marketing, music, fashion, wellbeing, and education - from ITV, MTV, to M.C.Overalls, AND - TODAY - New Working Class. I am Always to bring an outsider's vantage point.

In parallel, I have advocated for and served long tenures AS A charity TRUSTEE - including the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), The Mix, and as founding patron in 2006 and since 2013 Chair of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

across a 'squiggly' career, I have witnessed many types of leadership challenges FACING organisations of different shapes, sizes and temperaments.

 

THEY HAVEN't ALWAYS SEEn THE OPPORTUNITY IN FRONT OF THEM. or been willing or able to see it from an adjacent vantage point. But that's what I see and that's what I bring. 

THE right questions are slippery beasts. and the right answers aren't always forthcoming.. or stay right for very long. SO, I have iterated and tested multiple models of THINKING, BEING AND DOING, to launch and scale COMPANIES.

Over 20 years, I have been privileged to share THINKING, insights and experiences with executives, as part of Techstars, The Marketing Academy, and other personal networks and referrals - receiving as much as giving.

It has become a strange brew of cOACH, counsel, CONSULT, AND PERHAPS - more fundamentally - a critical friend and trusted confidante IN PROFESSIONAL AND BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION. 

It boils down to a simple mantra:

TAKE baby steps.

THEY ARE the most profound strides we WILL EVER make.
